The Nursing Degree programme aims to train general nursing professionals, endowing them with the scientific and human preparation to assess, identify, evaluate and act in accordance with the health needs of both healthy and sick people, families and the community. Phenomena of particular concern to nurses are responses to the actual or potential health problems of individuals, families, and groups. These human responses generally range from health needs to recovery from illness. Thus, the role of the nurse, when caring for healthy or sick people, is to assess their responses to their state of health, or recovery, or a dignified death, assisting them, if possible, to regain their independence as soon as possible.
Within the health system, nurses share with other medical professionals functions related to planning, organization, management and evaluation to guarantee a health system facilitating the development of people's potentialities in different situations of their daily lives, the promotion of health, the prevention of disease, and care for the sick and disabled. Therefore, studies towards the Degree in Nursing are designed so that future graduates acquire:
- Broad knowledge of nursing, health, human and social sciences, being able to respond to the health-related needs and expectations of individuals, families, groups and the community.
- Skills for the observation of nursing care procedures and clinical guidelines.
- The ability to establish positive relationships with those assigned to their care.
- The capacity to apply the scientific method in their interventions.
- The tools necessary to develop a critical and reflective attitude.

Located in an ecotone area on the edge of the Sierra Morena mountain range, the campus itself presents great biodiversity, an aspect that has been protected and promoted through the adaptation of the "University Forest", featuring different habitats. Next to the Campus is the Estación de Campo de Román Pérez, a property covering more than 300 hectares and that, in accordance with an agreement, is available for research and teaching activities by the university community. It includes facilities to house researchers, and offers a wide range of possibilities due to its enormous biodiversity, with more than 100 species of birds, and varied habitats, including wetlands. All this, with the possibility of sustainable use and almost no carbon footprint, as it is next to the Campus, such that students can walk there. Research, internationally recognized, is a cornerstone of the Faculty of Sciences, allowing faculty to remain up to date on the latest recent scientific advances, and the subsequent transfer of knowledge generated to their teaching.
All the Faculty of Sciences' degree programmes offer some classes in English, allowing students to complete 30 ECTS in this language, in addition to their Final Degree Project. Faculty of Education Sciences
+ More Information...
The Faculty of Education Sciences is an institution with a long history in the training of educators. It offers degrees in Early Childhood Education and in Primary Education, both of which may be completed as bilingual programmes, reflecting the faculty's forward-looking nature and international orientation, part of a decided commitment within the educational system to bilingual education. Also offered is a degree in Social Education, one of the most popular at the UCO; a dual degree in English Studies and Primary Education; and, since the 2018/2019 academic year, a degree in Psychology, in response to great social demand. It also offers five official Master's Degrees: Inclusive Education, Research in Applied Psychology, General Health Psychology, Environmental Education, and Educational Centre and Programme Supervision, Evaluation and Management.
Most of our students have chosen these studies as their first options, so there is a strong vocational component involved, which is fundamental for our degree programmes, all of them focused on the development of people and improving their quality of life. Hence, excellence is sought in the education imparted, as we are aware of the social responsibility that their future professions imply. Our graduates must be professionals capable of interpreting a changing world, and aware of the scope of their actions to build a more just and egalitarian society.
We are a faculty committed to the values of inclusion, dedicated to equality between men and women, and to diversity. Likewise, the Faculty of Education Sciences is defined by its great cultural dynamism, with activities that promote training in transversal skills (volunteering, participation and cooperation for development) in addition to entrepreneurship, employability and international mobility.
One of the Faculty's hallmarks is the model developed in curricular practices for the degrees in Early Childhood Education and Primary Education, a reference point for other Education Sciences departments. It is a model entailing a close connection with the Faculty of Education and the Faculty Centre, and great formative strength, as it makes possible a constant balance between theory and practice, and requires complex organization, since there are more than 1,300 students doing internships each year at more than 500 schools in Córdoba and across the province. This model has been transferred to the development of the Practicum for the Social Education degree, also with very positive results.
